We have often heard from you how vividly our artists in residence and their concerts remain in people's memories - and that we should definitely invite this or that person again! We have taken this to heart and are starting a new subscription series in the Great Hall. Countertenor Philippe Jaroussky was one of the first to accept. The artist in residence 2015/16 and his pianist Jérôme Ducros will bring songs from the Viennese classical period and French music from the fin de siècle. A new discovery among the well-known names for some may be Reynaldo Hahn (1874 - 1947), whose glamorous bohemian life in Paris also included a love affair (and subsequent close friendship) with Marcel Proust.

Konzerthaus Berlin

The Konzerthaus Berlin is a concert hall in Berlin and home of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. Situated on the Gendarmenmarkt square in the central Mitte district of the city, it was originally built as a theater. It initially operated from 1818 to 1821 under the name of the Schauspielhaus Berlin, then as the Theater am Gendarmenmarkt and Komödie. It became a concert hall after the Second World War, and its name changed to its present one in 1994.

The Konzerthausorchester Berlin is the resident orchestra of the Konzerthaus Berlin. The concert hall also hosts Young Euro Classic every summer, an international festival of youth orchestras.
